Please add a confirmation window when placing an item into something socketable (skills/weapons and armor). I can’t count how many times I’ve wasted good socketable weapons and gear in D2 because I accidentally dragged a crappy rune or gem into them and let go on top of it without thinking about where I was putting it.

Well, a confirmation, I can’t be too sure of. We’re probably not going to be dealing with items that are anywhere near as astronomically rare as some of the Diablo II runes, and I think it’s probably fairly likely that you’ll be able to overwrite what’s in a socket just by placing a new gem over the old one (destroying it in the process). So, you can still screw up, true, but it probably won’t be nearly as devastating – and fixing a mistake should be pretty easy.

A confirmation is a possibility when the stakes of placing the items become too costly to get wrong.

For example, Hephasto has a of 0.00000651% chance of dropping a Zod. 

On the other hand, killing Baal with 200% MF gives you a 0.015% chance of getting a Stone of Jordan.

Also, if I recall correctly, some of those drop chances are so insane because they were created with a design idea that they would be near “one per server”. The major issue with that is the number of people playing has decreased pretty substantially since the game first launched, so those items don’t see (legitimate) circulation nearly as much as they were intended. 

Aside from that though, I believe the chance of something happening will only keep you trying for so long. The reason why it’s fun to keep playing is for the items that do actually drop, not the ones that don’t.

  • Multistrike: Hits multiple targets (Hydra rune)
  • Power:  adds some damage to the target (Force rune)
  • Striking: adds an effects such as stun, knockback etc. to the target (Striking rune)
  • Lethality: adds some effects or power when target is killed (Viper rune)
  • Energy: alter or adds energy (Energy rune) 

Runes have different quality level (which set the power of the rune)

How runes can be used with the Diablo 3 skills system:

    • Lethality – enemies killed remain for a little while as flame-enshrouded spirits which fight for the Witch Doctor
    • Multistrike – bounces, hiting things repeatedly 
    • Power – leaves a pool of flame on the ground where it hits
  • Horrify 
    • Power – instead of running away, enemies are rooted in place by the fear, completely unable to move
  • Locust Swarm 
    • Multistrike – Releases multiple (depending on strength of the rune) swarms in different directions; the swarms stack so that if they spread to the same group the group takes double (or more) damage (Ukobach, modified by myself) 
    • Lethality - 
      • when the swarm kills an enemy, a portion of takes its place as a “locust man”, which lasts for a brief time and does melee damage (Ukobach) 
      • enemies killed by the swarm explode, damaging nearby monsters (Akaitsuki)
  • Mass Confusion 
    • Striking – can target a single enemy, who will be designated as the target of all other enemies in range 
    • Power – all confused monsters get 100% damage boost (Akaitsuki)
  • Soul Harvest 
    • Multistrike – Soul Harvest becomes a passive Aura, which gradually drains Life from nearby monsters and converts it to Mana for the Witch Doctor (Sied2) 
    • Striking – attack summon a la Bone Spirit (Sied2) 
    • Lethality - 
      • enemies killed with Soul Harvest heal not only the Witch Doctor as normal, but also all allies (Sied2) 
      • enemies killed by Soul Harvest have a chance of completely restoring the Witch Doctor’s health and mana
  • Summon Mongrel 
    • Striking – Mongrels have a higher chance of Critical Hit (Peaceonearth) 
    • Lethality – Mongrels explode much more violently, dealing their enchanted damage as well as improved normal explosion damage (Peaceonearth) 
    • Power – Mongrel attacks get Knockback and Stun (Peaceonearth)

      • Striking – target gives off heat, dealing some fraction of the damage it takes to nearby enemies
    • Wave of Force 
      • Striking – pulls enemies towards Wizard and microstuns them 
      • Power – pushes enemies as far as they can go – taking extra damage if they hit a wall, damaging other monsters they hit, etc 
      • Lethality – after pushing the target, if it dies, it explodes with a wave of force of its own, allowing chain reactions
    • Arcane Orb 
      • Multistrike – launches Magic Missiles around it in circles – unFrozen Orb! 
      • Power – on a critical hit, leaves behind a small Slow Time bubble

      • Multistrike – becomes Chain Lightning

      • Power – costs less Mana (Peaceonearth) 
      • Multistrike – lowers the cooldown between damage absorption events (Peaceonearth)
    • Teleport 
      • Power – can be cast on self, allies, or enemies. Semi-teleports the target, leaving them temporarily half real. In this they take and deal extra magic damage, cannot use physical attacks, and take less physical damage (Kintak) 
      • Wizard can teleport into a minor monster, killing them in a violent explosion (Ukobach)
      • Multistrike – appear at destination with a mirror image 
      • Striking – damage enemies near destination

Still, we can’t forget that Blizzard also has another potential blockbuster in the works with the third installment of the Diablo series, and if you’re interested in some development updates, a small bit of new content has been released. It’s not much, but several new development screenshots have surfaced, in addition to a short trailer featuring one of Diablo’s most common characters, The Fallen.

Besides showing off some character animation and screenshots, you also get a taste of what we can expect from Diablo 3’s soundtrack. If the animation is generated from the engine itself, which is likely the case, you can see very clearly what sort of in-game artwork to expect as well. Overall this is just a very small tease, and Blizzard has yet to announce any sort of timeline for the game. Still, if past Blizzard games are any indicator, it’ll likely be worth the wait.

如今只花了10分钟时间，就已经把网站全部恢复，自己都觉得很惊讶。

如果需要跳转到可信的第三方站点，可以修改filter hook ---- allowed_redirect_hosts，把可信任的第三方站点加入列表，这样也就达到了扩展wordpress的目的。

Because WordPress has no built-in configuration menu in the admin menu to assign roles/capabilities, you need to install the role/capability manager plugins role-manager.

这是07年秋季设计的风格，做成了 Textpattern 的模板，十一月初正式使用。今年的模板做得比较少，去年年底的总结提醒自己宁缺勿滥，这也算是对自己的改正吧。这款设计主以灰黑色和绿色为主色调，当然蓝色也是必不可少的，绿草有蓝天的衬托才更接近理想化的自然。

升级过程很顺利，和之前2.3系列小版本的升级没有区别。可以看到2.5的后台有很大的改动，几乎认不出原来的样子。除了外观以外，后台还摒弃了一些基于prototype.js，大量使用jquery。jquery的文件比prototype.js要小多啦，这对页面展现速度有很大的帮助:)

另外缺省主题也已经更新并支持tag，不枉我费了一番功夫升级到这个版本。
